P.O. Edward O'Brien - May 1880.  Died after his revolver exploded while capturing a burglary suspect.

P.O. James Moulds - April 21, 1882.  Died in the performance of his duties.

P.O. Charles Reynolds - July 9, 1883.  Died after being fired upon by a burglar who was struggling with another officer.

Sgt. Michael Conlon - July 8, 1896.  Died of pleurisy after chasing two robbers into the Meadows and wading into the Hackensack River up to his neck to capture them.

P.O. Nicholas F. Nestor - October 7, 1908.  Died attempting to rescue fire victims.

P.O. Dennis J. Sullivan - June 12, 1910.  Electrocuted while putting his key in a call box to report a fire.

P.O. Thomas Maypower - September 28, 1910.  Died of head and spine injuries after slipping on ice while on patrol.

P.O. Hugh J. Clarke - October 1, 1913.  Electrocuted as he was reporting a fire at a call box.

P.O. John J. Smith - May 22, 1913.  Died of injuries as a result of a fall suffered while chasing burglars.

P.O. Charles Graham - June 11, 1914.  Shot by a thief but continued to pursue him in spite of his injuries.

P.O. James F. Doherty - August 1, 1916.  Died in an explosion at a munitions depot at the Black Tom Rail Yards.

P.O. John J. Murphy - November 29, 1916.  Died of head injuries after striking his head on an iron troley pole in the performance of his duties.

Det. James Dinley - November 6, 1921.  Shot while apprehending an armed suspect.

P.O. William Clark - August 2, 1922.  Died of injuries after falling from a pole while repairing telegraph wires.

Sgt. John Black - May 22, 1923.  Died of gunshot wounds suffered while serving a suspect with a robbery warrant.

P.O. James B. Quinlan - April 7, 1923.  Died in a automobile accident while driving an injured person to the hospital.

P.O. Clarence Weir - May 22, 1923.  Died of gunshot wounds suffered while serving a suspect with a robbery warrant.

P.O. John Shannahan - March 2, 1929.  Died from injuries sustained in "friendly fire" while chasing hold-up suspects.

P.O. Walter O'Neill - March 2, 1929.  Died in the same incident as stated above.

P.O. Edward Ruark - December 12, 1930.  Died after being shot while stopping a vehicle used in a homicide.

P.O. James J. Carroll - May 27, 1934.  Died when his motorcycle was cut off by a speeding car he was attempting to pull over and skidded into a traffic booth.

P.O. Walter Harrigan - August 27, 1934.  Died of injuries while riding the running board of a vehicle carrying an injured man to the hospital.  He was off-duty at the time and was clearing the street of interference from traffic.

P.O. William J. Cahill - October 28, 1946.  Died of a heart attack while carrying an intoxicated man home.

Det. William McCaffery - December 13, 1958.  Shot by a ricocheting bullet while he and other officers were pursuing a stolen vehicle.

P.O. Stephen W. Lipka - November 8, 1965.  Died of a massive heart attack while intervening in a domestic dispute and struggling with an intoxicated male.

Lt. Stanley P. Przygocki - October 29, 1967.  Died of gunshot wounds suffered in the line of duty.

P.O. Casper Buonocore Jr. - September 12, 1973.  Shot by a sniper while leaving the scene of an arrest and melee.

P.O. John Bracken - September 12, 1973.  Died after a car struck his motorcycle while on patrol.

P.O. Dominick Conticchio - September 10, 1974.  Died of a massive stroke after carrying an expectant mother down a flight of stairs to a waiting ambulance.

P.O. William G. McCarthy - January 4, 1976.  Died of stab wounds inflicted as he was attempting to arrest two car burglars.

Sgt. Donald Carroll - November 6, 1986.  Shot by a deranged man while protecting innocent bystanders with his body.  His father James Carroll also died in the line of duty on 5/27/34.

P.O. Samuel Wilson - January 4, 1989.  Died of a heart attack while struggling with a narcotics violator he was arresting.

Sgt. John E. Laughery Jr. - November 24, 1992.  Died of AIDS after his skin was accidentally punctured by a hypodermic needle.

P.O. Edward C. Black - March 1, 2001. Died suddenly of a heart attack while on patrol in his police cruiser.

P.O. Domenick Infantes - July 6, 2001. Died at an early age of 29 after being taken off life support.  On July 4th, while off-duty and unarmed, Domenick came to the aid of a civilian who was being brutally attacked with a metal pipe by two brothers. While protecting the civilian Domenick was struck in the head with the metal pipe and fell to the ground unconscious.
